How to Deal with Self-Employment Boredom

Here are tips to help you stay focused on the task at hand and cope with self-employment boredom

Self-employment gets boring at times, especially if you’re performing the same work day after day. Fortunately, there are lots of things you can do to manage self-employment boredom, such as:

1. Make Time for Yourself

The temptation to work 24/7 is sometimes overwhelming. Yet going for a walk or run, checking your Twitter feed or taking a few minutes just to breathe can make a world of difference. Because if you make time for yourself, you can focus on what’s most important — you’re health and well-being. And when you’re ready, you can return to work feeling rejuvenated.

2. Work Outside Your Everyday Workspace

Working from a coffee shoplibrary or anywhere else outside your everyday workspace can help you feel revitalized. Personally, I sometimes feel trapped working from my apartment. But if I work somewhere else, I experience new sights and sounds. As a result, I realize there is a big, bright, bold and beautiful world around me, and this makes me feel excited and energized.

3. Reward Yourself

Everyday rewards are powerful, and they can motivate you to do exceptional work. You don’t need to shoot for the stars when it comes to integrating rewards into your work day, either. For example, rewarding myself with a cup of coffee from my favorite coffee shop often motivates me to stay on task and complete work to the best of my ability. So, find rewards that drive you, and you can “treat yo self” like never before.

Self-employment boredom sucks out loud, but it is manageable. If you find yourself drifting away from the task at hand, use the aforementioned tips so you can move past boredom and get work done.
