Are You Good Enough?
Here’s why you are good enough to succeed in self-employment — and anything else
SPOILER ALERT: Yes, you are good enough to succeed in self-employment and anything else. And if you believe in yourself, you can accomplish anything.
Self-employment is risky. Personally, one of my biggest self-employment fears is losing all of my clients at once — because in this scenario, I lose everything.
The thought of losing all of my clients at once keeps me up at night. What I realize, however, is that I cannot control how my clients respond to me, my work and my actions. And I also cannot control if all of my clients decide to stop working with me. But I can control my work approach and how I respond to any challenges that come my way.
How to Deal with Self-Doubt in Self-Employment
There are moments when I doubt myself and question my ability to do things that I know I can do well — from getting up in the morning to work to writing a Self-Employable blog post. Self-doubt has been persistent throughout my life; I’m not sure when I started to feel self-doubt or why it’s there, but it’s there. And I feel like the best way to approach self-doubt is head-on.
I feel like the moments when I doubt myself are ongoing; I’m not sure when they’ll happen or what causes them. But I can control how I handle self-doubt. Ultimately, when I doubt myself, I realize that I’m me, and I’m good enough to accomplish anything I try. And if I try to be as kick-ass as possible, each and every day, I am good enough, because I am trying my best to be my best.
I feel good enough, and I feel like this helps distinguish me from other self-employables. I work hard, complete work on time and maintain constant contact with my clients to ensure they are happy with my work. Plus, I request client feedback so I can find ways to improve. None of these things guarantee that my clients will stay with me, but they do help me feel good enough. And if I’m trying my best to be my best, I feel like that’s all I can do, and that is sufficient.
So, I am good enough, and I feel like what I’m doing on a day-to-day basis is straightforward and simple. And if you try your best each and every day, you are good enough to accomplish anything you want to do. 🙂
